INDEPENDENT STUDY PROGRAMME
Admission
Although the Independent Study Programme does not seek recognition by the Portuguese Ministry of Education, it is compatible with other Postgraduate Programs, such as the MFAs from the Malmö Art Academy/Lund University or Glasgow School of Arts, with which the Maumaus Program maintains exchange programs.
Candidates should have finished their basic studies in fine arts before applying to Maumaus. A few years' practical experience is considered an advantage for entering the programme. Nevertheless, anybody with art experience can apply to study at Maumaus.
Each candidate is required to attend a personal interview, during which any kind of material that the candidate considers relevant to introduce him or herself to Maumaus, can be presented. During the interview a detailed explanation is provided of how the Maumaus Programme operates and it is ascertained with the applicant whether Maumaus is the right school at the moment in the candidate's artistic career.
