Licence Policy
Personal DVD
(Home Video)
Personal DVDs do not come with public performance rights, and may not be shown in any commercial, institutional, theatrical or educational setting. Personal DVDs may not be duplicated or copied, and may not be uploaded to a server or internet-based platform, or shared in any other way.
Institutional DVD
(Limited Public Performance Rights)
Institutional DVDs are for private, non-profit, or government-funded, non-educational organizations, for in-house/library use, and come with limited Public Performance Rights (PPR). This permits screenings to groups of fewer than 50 people when no admission is charged. If admission is charged, or if the group is more than 50 people, you need to request a quote for a Single Screening Licence. This does not permit duplication, or any server/internet upload. These rights are valid for the lifespan of the DVD disk purchased.
Educational/Library DVD
(Educational Licence)
Educational Institutions (universities, libraries, and schools) can purchase DVD copies of titles and box sets at a discounted rate. These purchases are intended only for classroom screenings and academic research and do not include public performance rights. This does not permit duplication, or any server/internet upload. These rights are valid for the lifespan of the DVD disk purchased.
Educational/Library Streaming
Most of our titles are available for educational/library streaming at Vimeo On Demand. Visit https://vimeo.com/ondemand, or click on the right of an individual film title. If a film title is unavailable, please contact us for assistance with purchasing these rights. All educational/Library streaming licences are durational. Home video streaming do not come with public performance rights, and may not be shown in any commercial, institutional, theatrical or educational setting. Home video may not be downloaded, duplicated or copied, and may not be uploaded to a server or internet-based platform, or shared in any other way.
Exhibition Rental Licence
An Exhibition Rental comes with public performance rights and allows the title to be played continuously as a looped screening or otherwise, on a monitor or as a projection. Exhibition Rentals allow titles to be presented for the duration of an exhibition and are priced accordingly. Titles are available on DVD or digital file. To receive a quote, please ask an Exhibition Rental Licence to the email maumaus@maumaus.org.
Institutional Collection Licence (Archival Acquisition)
Collecting institutions may purchase archival copies for accession to their permanent collection. The purchase comes with full public performance rights for screening or looped exhibition at the location of the purchasing institution. (No loaning or touring rights are included). Archival acquisitions also include duplication rights to transfer the title to other formats for screening purposes. Titles are available as uncompressed digital files. We provide screening DVDs to Archival clients at-cost. Archival acquisition prices are available by request. To receive a quote, please ask an Institutional Collection Licence (Archival Acquisition) to the email maumaus@maumaus.org.
