The Modern Art Museum: Gebre Kristos Desta Center of Addis Ababa University presents Ângela Ferreira and Jürgen Bock in conversation. Monday October 7th at 6:00 p.m. at the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa, Sedist Kilo, Compound of Faculty of Business and Economic. Manthia Diawara’s film Maison Tropicale, based on Ferreira’s work, will be projected during the conversation.

Ângela Ferreira’s project Maison Tropicale, conceived for the 52nd Venice Biennale 2007 and curated by Jürgen Bock, reflects on colonial history, and its contemporary post and neo colonial resonances. Ângela Ferreira and Jürgen Bock will talk about this particular installation presented in Venice as well as their recent project presented at the Biennale of Lubumbashi. Ângela Ferreira is a Portuguese/South African artist who lives and works in Lisbon.
Her work has been widely exhibited all over the world.

Ao descer a escada
Há um degrau p’ra me sentar.
Não há outro degrau
Onde descansar.
Não estou lá em baixo
Nem lá em cima estou.
Estou é na escada
Onde sempre estou.

Ao subir a escada
Não estou em cima, nem em baixo.
Não estou na creche,
Nem mesmo no sopé, acho.
Ideias estranhas começam a girar
Na minha cabeça
Fora do lugar!
